look into H. R. 347

There are a great deal of horrific news snippets that I've thought about linking 2 today,
as this platform has been overdue for an update.. Though I think it would be more productive to combine ink and emotions with actual pen and paper regarding some of the lives lost most recently- be it to the war machine -or the supposed technological" failures - Far too many are taken far too soon- May the fallen rest in peace.

Here are some positive notes - as it can often be difficult to  m a i n t a i n  optimism-

( the above site -intriguing- not one I have visited before - I'm as skeptical as anyone- but there just might be some other gems tucked between some of the pages - who knows?! -Decide for You ! )

WPLC Files Suit for Excessive Force against Peaceful Protesters

There are vast number of Veterans joining the water protectors soon; as the camp have been told they need to vacate on the 5th of December. Everyone needs to be paying as much attention to this as they can handle in the upcoming days -there are many different ways of spreading awareness and showing support if one cannot physically be present. There are free speech zones in place- there are private security companies infringing on their rights / communications - vehicles tucked in the waiting out of view and the "authorities" have already proven their disregard for humanity on more than one occasion // Just going to say that Martial Law has been enacted more times in North America than the cable news channels would like you to know// This is about so much more than than this one pipeline. And I don't mean to condescend and assume that you do not know this already- It's just hard to believe this is really what people are up against - we've regressed so intensely these last few decades -

I guess I shouldn't be shocked ....

Since we're living in the age of - -   P i z z a g a t e  - -BAAAAAAA - -U P C H U C K z - - - - -!

There is a new batch of history in the making ,

The recent murder of a Guatemalan human rights defender has cast a sombre shadow over social movements, signaling the increasingly hostile and too often fatally dangerous environment faced by human rights workers in the Central American country, international organizations warned Wednesday.

"Jeremy Abraham Barrios Lima was a former student leader and human rights campaigner. As an Assistant to theExecutive Director of CALAS, he was in charge of managing sensitive information related to the high profile casesCALAS is litigating. The investigation into his murder should explore the possibility that he was killed in retaliationfor his legitimate human rights work."

"Much of the economic literature on the patent system is inherently built on an institutional foundation where elements of the patent granting and enforcement systems are subjected to close scrutiny. Nevertheless, there remains a dearth of rigorous economic literature seriously addressing the role of property rights and institutions in facilitating competition, innovation, and economic growth.

There is no doubt that more work remains to be done to rigorously incorporate the potential impact of antitrust and patent law on innovation and dynamic efficiency.

The fundamental challenge is identifying a sound analyticalframework to guide policymakers, courts, and agencies in designing policies thatachieve the desired goals of encouraging innovation and growth while satisfyingthe constraint that social gains outweigh the sum of administrative and errorcosts.       "

This issue brief describes the ways in which competition between firms can benefit consumers, workers, entrepreneurs, small businesses and the economy more generally, and also describes how these benefits can be lost when competition is impaired by firms’ actions or government policies. Several indicators suggest that competition may be decreasing in many economic sectors, including the decades-long decline in new business formation and increases in industry-specific measures of concentration. Recent data also show that returns may have risen for the most profitable firms. To the extent that profit rates exceed firms’ cost of capital— which may be suggested by the rising spread on the return to invested capital relative to Treasury bonds— they may reflect economic rents, which are returns to the factors of production in excess of what would be necessary to keep them in operation.

Such rents maydivert resources from consumers, distort investment andemployment decisions, and encourage firms to engage inwasteful rent-seeking activities.
